FYM is the oldest organic manure used by man ever since involved in farming. It consists of litter, waste products of crops mixed with animal dung and urine. Therefore, it contains all the nutrient elements present in the plant itself and returns these nutrients to the soil when it is applied to the field for the benefit of succeeding crop. Development of animal operated manure applicator include the different components viz.,bullock cart chassis and frame, main axle shaft, steel wheels with rubber padding, agitator, manure box, sliding plate and power transmission system. A pair of bullock acts as power sources for hauling purpose. Power is transmitted by 1:3 ratio of power reduction (main axle shaft: agitator shaft).The animal walking speed is mainly decided to the power transmission of manure applicator, because agitator rotation is directly related to the main axle shaft.This research work briefly describes the development and evaluation animal operated manure spreader.Keywords

In post-independence era, Indian farming has been transformed from subsistence farming to modern agriculture. The sources of energy on farm power, agricultural practices and farm technologies and crops have been under gone a sea change. This is the evident from the data on number of mechanical power units used in farming. Number of tractors, electric motors, diesel engines, power tillers and self-propelled combine harvesters has increased by manifolds during the second half the twentieth century. The progress of farm mechanization has been closely linked with the overall improvement in agriculture production and productivity. The results has been shown in standardization of farm mechanization in ragi and maize crop the relevancy weightage considered was more than 0.70 values, Relevancy percentage was consider was more than 70% of values, Mean relevancy score was more than 2.0 values. Reliability values found in ragi and maize crop is follows, split-half method (r1/2) 0.9132, 0.9138 and whole test method (RII) 0.9546, 0.9550 and validity values found 0.9770, 0.9772, respectively. The research study is prominent agricultural engineering extension technology to develop dry land agriculture and enhance the productivity and production of dry land farmers in Karnataka. It is the research which will be more helpful to farmers to promote old farm mechanization practices to advanced farm mechanization practices in agriculture.Keywords

Social Media has been impacting on various sectors including the agriculture sector. Platform like WhatsApp tool is majorly encouraging interaction among users like lead farmers and educated farmers and in sharing of information among the farming community based on all size group of agrarians. Earlier days, farmers used to exchange agricultural information and tips on farming when they got together at a meeting place in the villages or depended on newspapers, farm related magazines, television and radio for news. Average number of messages seen by WhatsApp group members at “Krushi Mitra” group within one week, the messages related to general agriculture-85 (89.47 %), farm mechanization-86 (90.52 %), social-84 (88.42 %), personal -74 (77.89 %), humanity concern-85 (89.47 %), general awareness -74 (77.89 %) and general discussion messages has been depends based on topic raised and intensity of topic. In the group total 81 questions has been asked by farmers at one season at various vegetable crops related farm equipments at various unit operations and all questions has been answered by experts through WhatsApp tool. Number of farmers doesn’t know the equipments before posting equipments in WhatsApp group is (Land preparation-60 %, sowing and planting-55.55 %, irrigation and fertigation-50 %, weeding-64.44 %, sparaying-61.11 %, harvesting-52.22 %, threshing- 62.22 % and cleaning and grading-47.77 %). This study is conducted with a specific objective to suggest farmers to improve farm productivity and popularize the farm mechanization technologies among the various sizes of farmers at different crops at Chickaballapura, Kolar and Bengaluru Rural district through multi-media tool WhatsApp.Keywords
